It all started with a tiny bird in my hand.
I hand sculpted the tiny bird for my "Bird a Week" challenge, but I felt he was too lonely and decided to create another one to make him company.
When I saw the two little birds I new they will be needing a home and that is how this piece was made.

The ring was made with FastFire Bronzclay and I will fire it at this schedule:
Full ramp up to 1550F and hold there 3 hours. This schedule has worked very good to me, but every kiln it is different and you may have a different firing schedule.
How do you create? Do you start with an idea, a drawing or it comes out in the moment?
Love,
Lorena Angulo
Hi Lorena, as a bird lover, I love and look forward to your bird a week. When I first started in metal clay I usually just sat down and started creating something. But as time went on and my kids got older, life became busier I found that I needed to start sketching or writing my ideas down or I would forget. Now I have more ideas and sketches than I have time for! LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat Kim !!
ReplyDeleteYou will be able to make them all, you will see! <3
I adore your birds!!! You are such a powerhouse of creativity!
ReplyDeleteI usually start with a simple (VERY simple) sketch or idea and go from there. On more complex pieces, this has burned me because I haven't completely thought through the process and anticipated issues! However, I have some very good laughs with friends about some of the silly things I've had to back myself out of!
I love your photography Lorena! (And Kim---of your live birds!) Beautiful project!
ReplyDeleteThank You Christine and Jeannette !!
ReplyDeleteSweet little birdies - reminds me of our lovebird who gets out to play every morning. He goes back to his cage after he takes a bath under the dripping faucet in the sink and has his little bit of toast and eggs. No kidding. Your ring is wonderful, Lorena.
