Hi everyone,
I bet you are now wondering what I am excited about! Well, Jeanette asked me to be one of her bloggers....it is so nice to be wanted! I hope you will enjoy what I write about....since this is a metal clay blog, I will tell (and show) you the first ring I made for the RAW group on Flickr. For those of you who don't know, RAW is a group of artists who make a ring a week and post their photos on Flickr. Anyone who wanted to join did so at the beginning of this year. I was not sure I would be able to keep up but I made the commitment and I am going to do it! I like little do-able deadlines. I also love the feedback...helps me to know if I am going in the right direction.
The first ring I made has Coppr metal clay that I had made into sheets during Gordon's class at Carol Hamilton's studio last year. I had textured them and have had them sitting around since last year. I took two of the sheets and used them on both sides of my ring....kind of like a sandwich. The interior was a "french ivory" plastic that I cut leaves out of and filled with resin. I then riveted all three pieces together.
This week I did my second ring, polymer and wire....you can go to my blog if you would like to see either ring...I hope you like them....I also went into more detail about their construction....www.Beadfuddled.blogspot.com.
There are alot of other metal clay artists who are doing the RAW on Flickr....go take a look and be inspired! Have fun in your studios! Kelly
By the way...you could join Jeanette's group of Ring A Month or Gordon's group of Ring A Year!! Or Gordon's other group, Ring A Decade!! They are both too funny! K.
